“What we can see with our eyes comprises less than 10% of the universe. The real power sustaining its architecture is the energy contained in the 90% of the unseen.” -Professor William A. Tiller, Stanford University

“Life at its best is a flowing, changing process in which nothing is fixed.” -Carl Rogers

I don’t know what it is about the sculpture above, but it gives me tingles. It’s so simple, yet it has a mother lode of impact, a mother lode of meaning, especially given the title, “Transformation.” Indeed. Think of that, think of how it applies, how it could apply, to transformation of self, life. And what is it you’re transforming into, away from? Do you ricochet from one point to another, off the grid and on again, pure matter to mind? Both at once and neither also? The two objects stand for SO much, boundless meaning and signification. Just look how the light plays off the two. The found object contains the light, consumes it. It absorbs. The blown glass shines, light goes through and bounces off the surface all at once. It illuminates on its own accord.
